A Great Hike and Campout in the Blue Hills

Climbing Hancock HillThe Blue Hills hiking trip was a great success. The boys were well prepared for sleeping in the below freezing temperatures and everyone stayed nice and warm. The entire troop hiked together for half the day and split up to complete a 5 mile and a 9 mile hike.

Lego Night

Lego NightThe theme of last night’s meeting was Lego night. It was an evening of fun and competition. Each of the Patrols worked together to compete for the prize in 4 categories. Judging was performed by a team of elite Lego building experts (3 adults) and the competition was fierce.

The winners were:

Most Creative: Tree Patrol
Best Represents Scouting: Senior Patrol
Tallest: Bat Patrol
Most Complex: Jackal Patrol

Patrol Preparation for the Camporee

At this Tuesday’s meeting we will be preparing for the Seven Rivers District Camporee this weekend. The boys will be finishing up their patrol flags, preparing skits and yells and making their menus for the weekend.

“Cache to Eagle” Project this Saturday

In preparation for the upcoming Camporee we will be placing one of the 12 Seven Rivers District “Cache to Eagle” geocaches this Saturday from 12:00 – 1:30. Also remember there is no Troop meeting this week.

Fun at West Hill Dam

Paddling the West RiverWe had a great weekend at West Hill Dam with perfect weather. The meandering of the West river made the canoeing a challenge but all of the boys did a great job steering. The water seemed a little low and we discovered why. After a few hours of canoing upstream we reached a huge beaver dam (about 3 ft high) which meant it was time to head back.
