Seven of the older scouts recently spent the weekend learning survival techniques and camping with minimal gear. Instead of tents, we used tarps and ropes to build our shelters. We cooked our meals directly on the fire and enjoyed cake cooked inside of our orange peels. Thanks to all of the mosquitoes visiting us on the first night, we all learned not to build our shelters near a vernal pool.
